Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, commonly referred to as HOMA, is located on the southern part of the island of Montreal in the borough Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, facing Longueuil. It is bordered by Moreau Street to the west, Sherbrooke to the north, Viau to the east and the St. Lawrence River to the south. Mercier, Rosemont and Ville-Marie are the surrounding neighbourhoods. Here you'll find many apartments, mainly duplexes and triplexes, and many shops and stores. Downtown and Ville-Marie are easily accessible thanks in part to HOMA's four metro stations and many bus lines. This explains the real-estate boom the neighbourhood has enjoyed of late, with many new condo projects being built. HOMA will interest people who want to live on the island near many of the city's most popular attractions.

A small village at first, Hochelaga became a part of Montreal in 1883. The other part of the neighbourhood, Maisonneuve, remained independent until 1913.
