LEED certification : what is it ?

Description

Let us start by clearing this up : LEED is an acronym referring to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is an international certifying program aiming to promote an efficient and rational use of energy sources, including water and housing materials. These building standards and regulations are equally applied to both new and renovated constructions.

In Canada, it's Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC)'s duty to certify construction projects. They do so following a rigorous evaluation chart and attributing points through extensive and independent reviews.

The LEED certification is increasingly valued and sought after, equally amongst consumers and important real estate projects' managers. One thing is for sure : the LEED certification is an unmistakeable pledge of high-quality construction.
