The GCR (Garantie Maison Neuve or new house guarantee) covers every new house as long as it includes less than 4 units and was built after 2015. Some exceptions apply, such as self-construction houses or partially new buildings.
Ownership properties are covered up to a maximum of $ 300 000, and up to 50 000 $ deposits are fully secured.
The GCR's administrator is a non-profit organization. Its administrative committee is carefully regulated in order to represent a wide variety of people and backgrounds. It is therefore equally managed by consumer associations' members, enginery, architecture and law professionals, representatives of government agencies and contractors associations.
